A big thank you to everyone who came to help celebrate the scheme’s 25th anniversary. We had a wonderful time seeing you there and catching up with friends, old and new!
We were delighted to welcome to new members to our Board of Trustees: Alice Garrad and; Colin Caldwell. We look forward to working with them in the years to come.
We also wish to extend special thanks to those Trustees who retired this year: Kerry Prentice; Andrew Rea and; Gerry O’Boyle. As Chair and Treasurer of the scheme respectively, Andrew, Gerry’s hard work, passion for the scheme and friendly banter will be missed. We’re also sad to be losing Kerry’s expertise in PR and support as a family volunteer.
We have said goodbye to several of our volunteers over the past few months and would like to thank them and our remaining volunteers for all the hard work you do. Without it, Home-Start North Down would cease to exist.
It is with that in mind that we turn to our next drive for volunteer recruitment and welcome any support and help you can give.
As a volunteer you’ll be aware of how many opportunities exist at this present time for volunteering. We have been fortunate in years gone by to build a fantastic base of volunteers and wish to continue doing so.
We are looking for the best way to encourage others to volunteer with us and wondered could you help as it’s often the personal touch, spreading of the word or introductions made which are best.
- Would you know anyone that may be interested in volunteering?
- Do you work with or have any contacts within other groups that we may be able to go talk with or share our opportunities with?
- Have you any contacts within workplaces that may allow us to set up an information stand for staff?
Don’t forget it’s not only volunteers supporting families at home but also at family group and there’s lots of other areas we could use help with such as Public Relations and Media, Fundraising, Volunteer Recruitment…………
Would you be interested in talking to Bangor Community Radio about your experience as a volunteer? We are hoping to use this as another way of informing the community about the valuable work we do and encourage listeners to consider volunteering. The programme airs on Monday morning so if you are interested, please contact the office for further information.
Ark Farm Outing
It’s that time of the year again! This year the outings will take place on 5th, 6th & 7th August. The outings are open to all Home-Start families so remind your home-visited families they can come along too. Invitations will be sent in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested in lending a hand, please let us know. We welcome all the help we can get!
